Ward and Sarah Anne (Sally) Cochran.2 Sarah Ann Ward was born in 1825 at Walton County, Florida.3 She was born in October 1827 at Alabama.4,3 She married Covall Nichols, son of Samuel Nichols and Mary [Peebles], circa 1844 at Walton County, Florida.3 Sarah Ann Ward died circa 1900 at Escambia County, Florida.4
     She There is no evidence that she ever remarried after Coffel was killed. She is found in the 1870 census of Walton Co., FL and the 1885 census of Escambia Co., FL. In the latter she is listed as a midwife. One story related how she would ride her horse to go deliver babies & upon her return late one night she was jumped by a wildcat while crossing a stream.4 She Her language was said to embarass most of the men in the area.4 She Lineage supplied by Jim Moore & a little by Merline Booher.4 Sarah Ann Ward also went by the name of Sallie.2 Her married name was Nichols.2

He never remarried after he & my grandmother separated. He lived with a couple in Cantonment for many years. We would visit him there after my family returned to Pensacola in 1956. John died on a rare visit to Jo's house that some thought was an attempt at a reconcilliation. John lived with his daughter Gasque after the separation when he was in town. He would go off for extended periods working & come home with a 'pocket full of money'. He was listed as a carpenter & a laborer in the census.
